Services to Armed Forces
Today, more than ever, Armed Forces Emergency Services continues to be a steadfast friend to military families stationed all over the world. In times of both celebration and crisis, Red Cross workers send messages across thousands of miles to U.S. service men and women separated from loved ones. These messages bring hope amid chaos – reassurance that family members are alive and well.
Twenty-four hours a day, the Red Cross transmit good news about the arrival of a newborn baby, as well as the tragic news of a critical illness in the family or death of a loved one. We also provide access to financial assistance for military families in crisis, as well as counseling, referrals, and other related services.
Here are some ways you can support our troops:
• Make a financial donation to the Western Illinois American Red Cross so that it can continue emergency communications, deploying workers, outreach, and financial support efforts of the family members of career and reservists.
• Offer to baby-sit, pick up groceries, do laundry, or shovel snow for those service families you know.
• Give blood.
• Volunteer.
